Privacy Policy
MoneyClimb is a personal and family budgeting app. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. We built MoneyClimb to hold as little about you as possible: no email, no password, no advertising, and no sale of data — ever.
Information we store
An anonymous account. When you first open MoneyClimb, an anonymous account identifier is created for you through Firebase Authentication. We do not ask for your name, email address, or phone number.
The budget data you enter. Your budgets, categories, transactions (including merchant names you type or import), recurring items, debts, savings progress, and achievement/challenge progress are stored under your anonymous account in Google Cloud Firestore (Google Firebase, hosted on Google Cloud servers in the United States).
Shared-budget membership. If you share a budget with a partner, the shared budget's data is visible to both members. Joining requires an invite code created by the budget owner; the owner can remove the partner at any time, and a partner can leave at any time.
Subscription status. If you subscribe to MoneyClimb Premium, we store the subscription product and its expiry date so both members of a shared budget receive Premium. Payment is processed entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.
Usage analytics. We record which features are used (for example, "a transaction was added" or "the reports screen was opened") through Google Firebase Analytics and our own event log, tied to the anonymous identifier. These events never include your amounts, merchant names, or any budget content.
Document scanning and AI features
When you scan a bank statement, credit-card summary, or receipt, the page images are transmitted securely to our server, analyzed to extract the transactions, and immediately discarded from our server — MoneyClimb never stores the images, and nothing is imported into your budget until you review and confirm it in the app. The monthly review feature sends a summary of the month: your income, category names with planned and spent amounts, debt names with balances and minimum payments, emergency-fund progress, savings and investment account names with balances, and your current step — never individual transactions or merchant names. Both features use Anthropic as our AI processing provider; Anthropic does not use the data to train AI models and deletes it within 30 days, unless it must keep it longer by law or to enforce its usage policies. Before any page or summary is sent, the app asks for your permission, and you can withdraw it at any time in the More tab.
Credit-report import
When you import a credit report — by scanning its pages or choosing a PDF — the page images are transmitted securely to our server, analyzed to extract the obligations printed on the report (lender, credit purpose, original amount or credit limit, balance, monthly payment, interest rate, end date and status) and the credit rating if the report shows one, and immediately discarded from our server. MoneyClimb never stores the images, and nothing is added to your debts until you review and confirm each row in the app. Identity numbers and account numbers are not extracted. The rows you confirm are stored as debts under your anonymous account exactly like debts you enter by hand, and the rating is stored with them; you can edit or delete any of them at any time. This feature also uses Anthropic as our AI processing provider; Anthropic does not use the pages to train AI models and deletes them within 30 days, unless it must keep them longer by law or to enforce its usage policies. Before any page is sent, the app asks for your permission, and you can withdraw it at any time in the More tab.
What we do not do
No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no tracking across other apps or websites, and no selling or renting of your information to anyone.
Deleting your data
In the app, More → Delete my data permanently deletes your budget data, your event log, and your account. If you are the partner in a shared budget, your access is removed and the shared budget remains with its owner; if you own a shared budget, you must remove your partner first — we never delete another person's data with yours. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Children
MoneyClimb is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
