Privacy Policy
MoneyClimb is a personal and family budgeting app. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. We built MoneyClimb to hold as little about you as possible: no email, no password, no advertising, and no sale of data — ever.
Information we store
An anonymous account. When you first open MoneyClimb, an anonymous account identifier is created for you through Firebase Authentication. We do not ask for your name, email address, or phone number.
The budget data you enter. Your budgets, categories, transactions (including merchant names you type or import), recurring items, debts, savings progress, and achievement/challenge progress are stored under your anonymous account in Google Cloud Firestore (Google Firebase, hosted on Google Cloud servers in the United States).
Shared-budget membership. If you share a budget with a partner, the shared budget's data is visible to both members. Joining requires an invite code created by the budget owner; the owner can remove the partner at any time, and a partner can leave at any time.
Subscription status. If you subscribe to MoneyClimb Premium, we store the subscription product and its expiry date so both members of a shared budget receive Premium. Payment is processed entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.
Usage analytics. We record which features are used (for example, "a transaction was added" or "the reports screen was opened") through Google Firebase Analytics and our own event log, tied to the anonymous identifier. These events never include your amounts, merchant names, or any budget content.
Document scanning and AI features
When you scan a bank statement, credit-card summary, or receipt, the page images are transmitted securely to our server, analyzed to extract the transactions, and immediately discarded — the images are never stored, and nothing is imported into your budget until you review and confirm it in the app. The monthly review feature sends only aggregated monthly figures (totals per category, never individual transactions or merchant names). Both features use Anthropic as our AI processing provider; the data is processed solely to provide the feature and is not used to train AI models.
What we do not do
No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no tracking across other apps or websites, and no selling or renting of your information to anyone.
Deleting your data
In the app, More → Delete my data permanently deletes your budget data, your event log, and your account. If you are the partner in a shared budget, your access is removed and the shared budget remains with its owner; if you own a shared budget, you must remove your partner first — we never delete another person's data with yours. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Children
MoneyClimb is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
